Smith & Milton nominated for Prince Philip designers prize 2009

Jay Smith and Howard Milton have been short-listed for the 2009 Prince
Philip Designers Prize, awarded annually to recognize a lifetime
contribution to design.

The UK's longest-running annual design prize will mark its golden jubilee with a celebration of British design genius at Buckingham Palace. The winner
of the 50th anniversary of the prize, will be announced by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at a reception to be held at Buckingham Palace after the
presentation ceremony on 15 October.

The UK Design Council who organise the awards comment "This year's nominees are internationally renowned in their field for shaping the world around us and for defining design today and for future generations."

Together with Smith and Milton, the nominees are architects David Adjaye and Eric Parry, fashion designers Jeff Banks and Hussein Chalayan, sustainable housing specialist Wayne Hemingway, Brompton bicycle designer Andrew Ritchie, graphic and branding designers Peter Saville and Michael Peters.

The judging panel is chaired by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

Last year's winner was services engineer Max Fordham.
